Summer Carnival Day 2011

Viviana – summer 2011 in review

Summer camp carnival

Dear parents,

Friday July 29th will be carnival day at camp. All campers will participate in relays, carnival games, water games etc. In the afternoon, the different groups will show their peers some of what they have learned or otherwise done during camp. Half-day campers are welcome to stay all day. Due to space limitations we unfortunately cannot invite parents to the show.

Please make sure your campers bring their swim suit, a towel, shoes that can get wet and sun protection for this day!

Vivi and Marilena 6-8 week 6

Hola Amigos!

We are almost at the end of our voyage! Guess what? Our final destination will be China! It’s a very interesting place, with an intriguing culture. To get there we will take the Oriental Express. We will be enjoying all the beautiful views that we can see out side of our train window.

We are going to revise, (in Spanish, of course), the different destinations we’ve visited over the past 6 weeks. We will reflect on the different modes of transportation we used, remember the nature we encountered, and the unforgettable culture we experienced.

We will make our own train, kites, hats, and all with Chinese decorations, and let’s not forget about our Chinese Lanterns! All with brilliant colors. And finally  we are going to eat white rice with soy sauce and chopsticks. And try our fortune with the typical Chinese cookies.

We want you to know that we were very happy traveling with you and hope to see you next year in a new adventure! :)

Nos vemos!

Week 4 – Spanish 7/8

Welcome to Stela’s Spanish Class!

We will be continuing to travel around the world during this summer experiencing new countries and cultures. We will use our imagination and creativity in different activities including music, dance, poetry, crafts, pottery, weaving, and painting. During all of these activities, we will be developing our Spanish skills.

This week we will be traveling to El Caribe by Un Crucero! (A cruise) During this adventure, we will be creating our own “barco” and learn Spanish language basics including greetings, the calendar, tropical fruits, weather in the tropical area, and the “fauna y flora” del Caribe. We will also be learning more about Spanish culture, including dancing “La Conga” from Cuba. We will be creating a mural of the Caribbean scene, El Paisaje Caribeno! and we will make a delicious fruit salad. We will finish with a fiesta at the end of the week.

We will be going to the swimming pool twice a week. Please make sure your child has a bathing suit, towel, sunscreen and sandals for the pool.

I am looking forward to meeting you all!

Gracias,
Stela
